Scope:
The STCW course provides essential training for both officers and ratings. It includes a
basic training program tailored to their responsibilities, covering topics such as oil
and chemical tanker safety, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention,
operational practices, and legal obligations under applicable laws and regulations.
This course fully aligns with Section A-V/1-1 of the STCW Code, as adopted by the
International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for
Seafarers (STCW) 1978, including the 2010 Manila Amendments. The training follows the
guidelines set by IMO Model Course 1.01.
Objective:
Participants who successfully complete the course, hold an appropriate certificate, and
meet the qualifications under Section A-VI/1 of the STCW Convention (as amended) may
become eligible to serve on Oil and Chemical Tankers.
